Here Comes Peter Cottontail

Bunnies. In the garden. Every year.
They don't eat anything. They just nest and have more bunnies.
It's been cold here, but I ventured out into the garden to see if the bunny raising has begun for the year.
I was not disappointed as I discovered some wee little ones under the straw in the middle bed.

I did not take any pictures as they were very young and I did not want to disturb them.
The above photo is from last year of a bunny I called Peter Cottontail.
He had no fear and followed me around while I did my work.
Isn't he adorable?

I think there's plenty of space in the garden for all of us!

Since Easter is just around the corner, I thought I'd share the secret to boiling eggs.
Some farm women shared this with me and it has worked for me every time.
Every time, I tell you. The shells will practically fall off in your hands.
Seriously. No picking. No dings. No problems.
Just beautiful eggs.

How to do it egg-xactly...

Take eggs out of refrigerator and bring to room temperature
(when I'm in a hurry, I've left them out for 30 minutes and it still works...just sayin').

Bring enough water to cover eggs to a rapid boil.

Use a slotted spoon and slid eggs into the boiling water.

Time for 20 minutes (will need to adjust temperature so it does not over boil or boil too hard).

When time is up, remove eggs with a slotted spoon into ice water.

When cool....be amazed as you peel your eggs.

Trust the wisdom of farm women.

Now go forth and boil those eggs!

Featured Whites - Country Whites Weekend #4

Hey, country gal friends…a fabulous Friday to y’all!

We had fun with all your Country Whites last weekend!
You embraced your country whites and shared them with us!
You inspired us. You took us home. You filled us with country charm.

I, along with The Country Farm Home, truly wish to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for joining us. We are so honored and feel privileged to call you our country gal friends!

We are changing the features up just a wee country bit. Instead of announcing the top 3 viewed with my pick and a pick from The Farmer’s Daughter, we are announcing the top 5 viewed from the Country Whites Weekend. That way it is so much easier as we were both agonizing over our picks cause everyone actually deserves to be featured.

We also want to stress that you MUST have a link (that works) within you post that directs to
Old Time Farmhouse
Four people were disqualified from being featured because they did not follow the rules. Sorry!

So are you ready?
It's time to announce our features! The top five with the most views...

1. Small Space Farmhouse Style by Design Till It Shines

Farmhouse touches in the dining room. The white linen with the butterfly is actually an apron.
The farmhouse style reminds Diane of her grandparent's home and their farm.
So sweet and simple.

Please country check it out! She'd be pleased if ya paid her a visit.

2. A Simple Kitchen Display by Robin – Happy At Home

It's all about simplicity for Robin these days.
Lovin' this sweet little vignette in her kitchen window.

Please country check it out! She'd be tickled for ya to come on over.

3. Bead Board and Paint – New Lighter Kitchen by A Primitive Place

APP ~Tammy

Once Tammy started painting...she couldn't stop!
She started in the kitchen and continued to lighten up some more of her home.
And that bead board as a back splash is wallpaper that she painted and added wood trim.

APP ~Tammy

Please country check it out! She'd be happy to see ya drop by.

4.  Country Whites For Springtime by Cynthia Lee Designs

Cindy had to go shopping. She had no Spring decor for her new farmhouse look.
She found these adorable rabbits which she painted white and she set out her special Easter eggs.
Now she's set for the season!

Please country check it out! She’d be glad to have you over.

Want to know who was #5 with the most views?
Head on over to my Country Whites Weekend partner at The Country Farm Home.
She’ll fill you in!

If you were featured, please feel free to grab our button to place on your blog.

Country Whites Weekend is always held the third Friday of every month.
The next party will be held April 19 so mark your calendar.
We're looking forward to seeing y'all then!

Not Impressed

Nope. I'm not impressed with spring so far.
This is my forsythia bush. It looks pretty ugly.
It should be bursting forth with beautiful yellow blooms.

It is really trying.

I see some promise.

Maybe really soon.

I truly hope so. I want and need some spring.
Any signs of spring in your neck of the woods, yet?

Country Whites Weekend #4 - I Wanted Daisies

Good Friday morning  to y’all!
I think I smell spring just around the corner, don’t you?

Welcome to Country Whites Weekend!
We are so thrilled that all you country folk have taken the time to party with us!
We appreciate each and every one of you and your inspiring country whites!

It’s plain and simple and oh, so sweet.
Embrace your country whites and share them here!
Inspire us. Take us home. Fill us with country charm.

Since I’ve been feeling a need for spring lately, I thought about buying some daisies.
Nothing shouts farmhouse simplicity to me than a bouquet of white daises.
When I went to pick some up, the store didn’t have any. Really? Sigh.

Then something caught my eye. Little white roses with an aged look.

I’m not a rose gal. I’m a daisy gal, but these ruffled roses were sweet.

My grandfather had rose bushes and I thought of him immediately.

I think I caught the love of gardening from him as I remember always being his little helper.

So these roses came home with me. And I really like them.

I still love my daisies, but I think I have room for roses, too.

‘Country Whites Weekend’
